ARM
I worked at ARMs Trondheim office from 2020 to 2025, under the GPU organization. I was part of a GPU bringup team focusing on automating GPU testing/validation. The primary engineering domains here were workflow automation, GPU bring-up, data engineering and developing and maintaining Python tools in use by several internal teams.
I started as a summer intern in 2020, before working part-time throughout my final year at Uni. I was offered to continue full-time and started as a Graduate Software Engineer in 2021, progressing to Senior Software Engineer by 2024.
My time at ARM was very transformative, both allowing me to mature as a software engineer and in seeing the bigger picture of my work. ChatGPT was released during my time at ARM, with the company positioned to seriously capitalize on the AI boom if they acted fast. During my time there the company went through a transformation to fully position itself, finally culminating in its 2023 IPO. Being on the ground while the company adapted to the rapidly changing world outside, successfully resulting in a big exit for those involved, left a big impression. Experiencing this is ultimately what inspired me to start Rafmer.
Engineering wise, my team’s positioning as the “glue” between the software and hardware allowed me to work across the entire compute stack and under many different constraints. My team’s responsibility was maintaining a key tool defining and submitting the GPU-test workflows, utilized across several teams in the 600 person GPU organization (at the time of working). Working across several layers of this tool and the systems it interfaced with, gave me experience and perspective I wouldn’t have otherwise.
During my time there I had a plethora of responsibilities, both individually and team wise, ranging from deliveries to external teams, doing interviews and introducing novel technical approaches. My final org/technical deliverable was an image classification system.
Other responsibilities and deliverables can be seen in my CV.
